Frequently asked questions
At this time, we do not offer center-based services.
Yes. Our therapists provide ABA therapy and are different from respite workers. There must be a caregiver in the home during the session.
At a minimum, your child and the therapist need an area that is conductive to both work and play. Somewhere relatively free of clutter and distractions with a small table or desk to sit at and some preferred toys and activities that your child enjoys.
We will do our best to accommodate schedules, though these time slots are in high demand and often result in longer wait times for services. Spectrum Way is working hard to offer more slots during these times. To see if we have a spot that works for you and your family, feel free to contact us here.
We have therapists experienced in early learning settings who are available to visit your child's childcare or learning centre. We recommend that families interested in this option first check with their childcare provider or learning centre, as not all facilities allow outside support.
This is a valid concern, but we believe it shouldn't be a cause for worry.
At Spectrum Way, we recognize that school is crucial for both academic and social development in children of all ages. That’s why we consistently work with your child’s educators to find areas where your child needs extra support, ensuring they don’t miss out on learning opportunities and academic tasks. ABA therapy is a vital tool that helps children succeed in school and childcare environments. It provides them with opportunities to learn essential skills, enabling them to flourish socially and academically.
Unfortunately, the school system often lacks the resources needed to support your child's success. One-on-one ABA therapy sessions can supplement the school day, aiming to enhance essential skills that help your child succeed during school hours. As a result, it can help your child learn new skills and provide caregivers and educators with new strategies to support the child in the way they need.
We always consider each child's and family's preferences and needs when choosing session times and days. We want to assure you that when we suggest a modified school day to support attending ABA therapy, it is because we believe it is in your child's best interest.
That's great news! We can't wait to hear from you.
Step 1: Contact us and provide us with your Name, Contact Information, and a little bit about how we can help.
Step 2: A member of our team will reach out to you to set up a virtual intake meeting. They will also send you 2 forms to be filled out. A brief questionnaire about your child's strengths and needs, and a consent form to allow us to collect information.
Step 3: Return the signed consent form and filled-in questionnaire.
Step 4: A Registered Behaviour Analyst or Senior Therapist will meet with you virtually, for 30-45 minutes to gather information about your child and discuss the different service models available.
Step 5: Spectrum Way Behaviour Consulting will put together a team that suits your specific needs and goals and once a team has been established, a service agreement will be sent to be signed.
Step 6: ABA Therapy begins with direct assessments of your child's skills and introductions to the team members in person.
The number of total hours is dependent on your child's specific needs and the delivery model that is chosen. A typical therapy session lasts 3-4 hours as this allows therapy to be more easily integrated into play and functional life skills routines, while still providing ample opportunities for learning.
We service York, Simcoe County, and the GTA.
